Coaching

Here are the steps to becoming a registered coach with Canada Soccer.

First thing is to acquire an NCCP number. Please navigate to Coaching Association of Canada and create your Locker via the following LINK. 

The required prerequisites components to become registered are:

1. NCCP Make Ethical Decisions Module and/or Online Evaluation 
2. NCCP Making Headway Module
3. NCCP Emergency Action Planning Module
4. NCCP Rule of Two Module
   
   ** NCCP = National Coaching Certification Program. These are 'online' courses which typically take about 1 hour to complete, though the Making Ethical Decisions course is longer. 
   
   
5. Respect in Sport Activity Leader Program. This is an online course to be arranged through Respect in Sport via the following LINK
   
   
6. The specific 'Grassroots' Coaching Program from Canada Soccer that relates to the age group you intend to coach. These are a combination of online/in person training and a summary of the course is as follows:
   
   

   Active Start Workshop: Designed for coaches of U4 to U6 players and consists of completing 1.5 hours of online training followed by a 2-hour Practical On-Field Workshop. No pre-requisites required. 

   FUNdamentals Workshop: Designed for coaches of Boys U6-U9 and Girls U6-U8. It consists of completing 1.5 hours of online training followed by a 3-hour Practical On-Field Workshop. 

   Learn to Train Workshop: Designed for coaches of Boys U9-U12 and Girls U8-U11. It consists of completing 2 hours of online training followed by a 4-hour Practical On-Field Workshop. 

   Soccer for Life Workshop: Designed for coaches of Boys U13+ and Girls U12+. It consists of completing 2 hours of online training followed by a 4-hour Practical On-Field Workshop. 

   There are no evaluations in the Grassroots Coach Education Program—coaches completing all the requirements above will be classified as Trained Coaches. More information about the Grassroot Coach Education Program is available on the CSA website. 

    
7. A current/valid Criminal Record Check (CRC). You can apply for one using the following LINK. To waive the associated fee, take this Volunteer Sign-Up form and include a with your CRC application.
